August 17th was National Non-Profit Day – a day which aims to give recognition to the goals and positive impacts that nonprofits have on different communities and people all around the world! Non-profits put in an immense amount of time and effort to make the world a better place. Communities everywhere benefit from the work they do every day.
Did you know? National Non-Profit Day was technically started in 2017, but has roots back to 1894, when the United States Congress passed the Tariff Act on August 17th that effectively allowed nonprofit and charitable organizations to be exempt from paying taxes.
Impact Tank is a non-profit and Namibia’s first venture builder that uses social entrepreneurship as a means to create sustainable impact. In partnership with our donor partners, we seek to reach sustainable change in the Namibian market using the most well-designed business models. We aim to address market challenges in low-income communities by closing the gaps in inequality through investing in entrepreneurs, partnering with corporates, facilitating access to markets, creating systemic change, and reaching the undeserved. Ultimately, the goal is sustainable poverty reduction through social entrepreneurship and market systems development.
